About UUID Generator

  • • Version 4: Random UUIDs (most common)
  • • Version 1: Timestamp-based UUIDs with random node ID
  • • UUIDs are 128-bit identifiers displayed as 32 hexadecimal digits
  • • Perfect for database keys, distributed systems, and unique identifiers
  • • Also known as GUIDs in Microsoft systems

The UUID Generator creates RFC 4122-compliant universally unique identifiers that are essential for modern application development. UUIDs are used to uniquely identify entities across distributed systems, databases, APIs, and microservices architectures. This tool generates version 4 (random) UUIDs that are cryptographically random and virtually guaranteed to be unique, eliminating the need for central coordination.

UUIDs have numerous practical applications in software development. They're used as primary keys in databases, document identifiers in document stores, entity references in APIs, correlation IDs for tracking requests across services, and resource identifiers in web applications. The random nature of v4 UUIDs means they cannot be predicted or enumerated, making them ideal for security-sensitive applications.

Our generator creates RFC-compliant UUIDs with proper formatting and can generate single UUIDs or batch multiple identifiers at once. Use it for database migrations, creating test data, initializing application records, or generating unique identifiers for any distributed system. The UUIDs are formatted as canonical 36-character strings (8-4-4-4-12 hex digits) that work with any system or database. Generation is instant and happens entirely in your browser.
